I am a blended family mom of six. I have two children at home: one teen and one toddler, as well as a very supportive husband.
I completed my doula training with Birth Arts International in Spring 2012. I am fully trained and currently working towards certification.
My education includes a Bachelor’s degree from The Evergreen State College and a Master in Teaching degree from City University. I am currently a second year midwifery student attending Ancient Art Midwifery Institute. I am a retired La Leche League Leader and am currently studying herbal and aromatherapy applications for birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum. In January of 2012 I completed the Neonatal Resuscitation course with Karen Strange. In July of 2012 I completed a Placenta Encapsulation class at Big Belly Services.
I have had two hospital births and two home births. I became interested in becoming a doula after having a doula assist me during my second birth in the hospital in 2000. She was amazing! With her assistance I got through a pitocin induction with no pain medication. Without her continuous support I probably would not have kept that portion of my birth plan intact. My hope is that I will be able to assist other women in having the birth that they desire.
Women’s bodies are created to give birth. My role is to facilitate your ability to experience the power, strength, and joy of the labor and birth process.
